The only problem is that they take 3 years or so to mature. If you are really ambitious, propagation through plant tissue culture can give you a large amount of plants using a single leaf if done correctly. In the end, the most simple method is already described by ummm. You may want to use a rooting hormone to help the leaf root faster.

Re: Venus Flytrap | Fly Trap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy and Guides- Everything VFT related

I know it's a year late, but maybe you still want to know. I'm assuming it's winter time during Christmas for you, so the plant should be going dormant. Keep it somewhere with temperatures that doesn't go below 0 above 13 degrees C for too long until spring arrives. It's best to let it have natural light during it's dormancy to keep it as healthy as possible. Supplement it with a max of 10 hours under artificial lights (with 0-13C) if you cannot find a spot to place it where it gets the right temp and natural light.

Re: Dormancy | Venus Fly Trap | FlyTrap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy - Everything VFT related

i live in a area that has 7 very cold months. is it ok to keep the plant inside that long?

Re: Dormancy | Venus Fly Trap | FlyTrap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy - Everything VFT related

i live in a area where we have 7 very cold months in a year. is it ok for the plant to be left inside that long?

Re: Venus Flytrap | Fly Trap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy and Guides- Everything VFT related

every spring i buy a flytrap and it grows huge on my kitchen window in the sun and eats loads of flys. but i cannot seem to overwinter it. once the windowsill gets chilly the plant goes black and appears to die. i did keep one until the spring once but it started growing again with only tiny traps then died. any advice? i would love to keep it longer than a year

Re: Venus Flytrap | Fly Trap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy and Guides- Everything VFT related

Hit it twice with a bag full of quarters.

Re: Venus Flytrap | Fly Trap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy and Guides- Everything VFT related

я в Казахстане, как заказать партию растений?

Re: General Care | Venus Fly Trap | FlyTrap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy - Everything VFT related

"This is one of the most frequently asked questions ever. I’ll put it simply, Each trap can only catch so many insects before its job is done and it can return to the soil. Why spoil a plants perfectly natural life? let it catch the bugs it wants. It will have to grow larger and prettier to increase it’s chances of feeding and to us that’s what usually defines a good looking plant, big full traps."

Does that not explain?

Re: General Care | Venus Fly Trap | FlyTrap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy - Everything VFT related

i am thinking about getting 1 but every site I've been on has said something different like that u can buy worms and must feed them it or u can buy caterpillars and can feed them when theres no flies and loads more can some1 plz tell me wots right????

Re: What does my Venus Flytrap need to grow and be healthy? | Venus Fly Trap | FlyTrap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy - Everything VFT related

will my plant still grow cos when i plated the seeds they were a kit with no instruction so i planted them and used tap water it has stered to grow but will it be ok now that iam useing rain water

Re: What does my Venus Flytrap need to grow and be healthy? | Venus Fly Trap | FlyTrap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy - Everything VFT related

will my plant still grow cos when i planted the seeds they came in a kit with no instruction apart form plat seeds and add water so i used tap water. it started to grow but now useing rain water. will it be ok

Re: Should I feed my Venus Flytrap? | Venus Fly Trap | FlyTrap | Care, Planting, FAQs, Gallery, Cultivars, Dormancy - Everything VFT related

How much water do they need??
